In partnership with the University of Strathclyde, this survey from Scottish PEN hopes to assess the impact current defamation law in Scotland has on writers, journalists, editors, publishers, campaigners, and social media users.
Scottish PEN is currently leading a Defamation Reform campaign that seeks to update current legislation to accurately reflect the modern media landscape, offer effective protection for freedom of expression and ensure reputations can be protected in a manner available to everyone.
As part of the campaign, this online survey seeks to assess the impact that current defamation law has on writers and publishers in Scotland. We hope that by building an evidence base in this area, we can highlight issues of importance to writers and better understand how the current law affects people in various settings.
The survey is open to everyone and will help us build a picture of how defamation reform can support everyone in Scotland.
Please note, as this is an anonymous survey, we will not ask you questions about your identity at any time. The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete.
